Name: Chewy (Chewbacca) Age: Between 6 months and one year Breed: Shih Tzu, small, 7 pounds Sex: Male, neutered Location: Princess Anne County, VA Vet Information: Chewy is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. He is heartworm negative. Chewy is vision impaired due to unknown causes. His owner thinks he can see some shadows but is not sure whether it is in one eye or both. He is on heartworm and flea and tick preventatives. Other than his vision, he is a healthy and active young pup. Owner Information: Chewy has been with his current owner for about two months, but when he came to her, she was not told that he is partially blind. She feels that he would do better in a home with more specialized knowledge in working with vision impaired dogs. Chewy in an indoor dog with the run of the house. Although he is still a young pup, he is not housebroken, and this has proven to be a challenge with Chewy. His original rescue believes that he never left his crate early in his life, so he has no issues going to the bathroom in it. Chewy knows the words for 'cookie' and 'outside'. He's an outgoing little guy who is good with women and female dogs. He currently lives with two small female dogs. He briefly met a man and two large dogs and was fine with them. He seems to love everyone and every everyone he has met. Chewy isn't possessive with treats, toys, or food, and he has never shown aggression to anyone. He has no bite history. His owner feels that he adapts well to new situations and surroundings because he has met and interacted with a variety of people who thought he was just scared and didn't know that he was blind. His owner would like you to know: 'He is the sweetest boy ever! Such a happy disposition. I am his only shortcoming. He wants to be a cuddled lapdog, but I can't keep him clean enough since I can't potty train him. He will poop on the floor or outside, but because he's blind, he will run through it. Please help, he just needs someone who can keep him on a super strict routine so he can be trained. He's so chill with my other two girls. I even have a bossy girl who intimidates some, but it doesn't phase him!' Does anyone have room for sweet Chewy? **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
