Meet DUNCAN This beautiful boy was brought to the local shelter after being found running very scared in a park. Sadly, it seems no owner was looking for him, so DUNCAN ended up being at the shelter for a while. He completely shut down and was not doing well or showing well to potential adopters. We were asked by shelter staff to help him and were happy to do so! DUNCAN is approximately 3 yrs of age, about 55-60 lbs. He looks to be mostly Boxer mixed with ?? DUNCAN has been making good progress since has been with us! He is a shy and fearful boy who lacks confidence and socialization. He can be leery of strangers but will accept treats and gentle pets. DUNCAN does not have a mean bone in his body, and while his eyes and facial expression may give pause to strangers, he has absolutely no fear aggression but rather has the flight/flee response when scared. He is being fostered on a ranch and has actually been very curious and brave around the horses in pasture. He has been doing well and likes going on his leash walks in the rural country setting. Due to his lack of exposure to many things, loud noises, bustling activity, and even some normal household activities such as sweeping, using the pooper scooper, moving furniture etc can be scary, so he may back away until he contemplates whether he can stay or if he needs to flee. He gets better with repeat exposure and positive experiences though and has become comfortable in his foster home. DUNCAN is crate trained, and seems to be mostly housetrained. He has begun playing with toys, and doing a little fetch. (Although he doesn't bring the toy back always!) lol He LOVES playing tug with rope toys and will engage with chase and fun with his foster mom. DUNCAN has been great with meeting other dogs. He likes being around the other dogs and has gained much confidence being fostered with an outgoing dog. He is playful with the other dogs, but also will just hang out and watch the others play too. DUNCAN has not been cat tested yet. Due to his lack of exposure to children DUNCAN needs an adult only home with a quieter atmosphere. His family will need to have the patience to continue working with him on socialization and confidence building. We feel having another social and confident dog in the home will be a huge plus for him. DUNCAN'S adoption fee is $400 which includes health examination, current vaccinations, neuter, microchip, flea and deworming treatment along with any other medical or dental deemed necessary by our veterinarian
