Zoey is a 9 year old female Chihuahua mix. She is a funny dog; her personality and temperament is very much chihuahua.. She thinks she's pretty tough but she's very loyal and is a lapdog. She weighs 10 lbs and has no serious health issues. One health problem she's been having is chewing her nails on her back feet, which has been an ongoing problem for about 4-6 months now. Our vet has done full bloodwork and has concluded that she is an otherwise perfectly healthy dog (other than the chewing). The vet has suggested taking her to a pet dermatologist, but unfortunately we can't really afford that right now as we have spent almost $2,000 in vet bills to find out that she's not sick. She's a great pet but I have 4 children and I'm extremely busy so I don't have the time or money to spend trying to figure out why she likes to chew her nails. If there is someone out there who has the resources to figure out this odd behavior, it would save her life because I'm not sure what else to do but to eventually surrender her. It breaks my heart to give her up but she deserves better.
