About Leia

Meet Leia, a 3-year old, 60-pound female pitbull mix who is currently in Wrentham, MA. She is looking for a new home as she does not enjoy living with the other resident dogs. Leia likes being with people and always greets staff with tail wags and kisses! She is described as a sweet girl who needs the understanding of a confident owner. Leia is an extremely affectionate gal and loves to work for treats. She is food motivated and will gladly offer her paw or sit for a cookie, which makes training a breeze.Leia would love nothing more than to sit by your side and snuggle the day away. She is an excellent companion and would love a yard to roll and romp around in the grass. Leia is spayed, UTD on shots, house-trained, and crate-trained. She also walks well on leash. Leia has lived in an apartment with kids, other dogs and lots of commotion, which was not a good environment for her. She was also put in a situation in which it looked like her owner was being attacked and she subsequently bit the 'attacker'. Leia is reactive toward animals and children, likely the result of a lack of training and proper social skills which has resulted in a bite history. Leia does best with routine and being in a stable environment makes all the difference; even though she's in boarding, she is happier with people experienced with dogs.The staff truly enjoy their time with her and say she's a very smart girl. Working with an experienced trainer would also help Leia to feel confident in her new home. Leah's ideal home will have no other pets,no children or frequent child visitors. She would thrive with a fenced in yard in a quiet neighborhood, where she will feel safe and secure. Leia needs a home with little commotion and proper introductions to anyone entering the home.She would love one or more dog-experienced adults, a cozy dog bed, and a few toys of her own. Leia is truly a sweetheart and requires an owner who is willing to be proactive and support her. Her past includes trauma that will require her new owner to be patient and help her to feel safe.
