About AMBER

Adoption Fee: $500.00
Poodle
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Just when you thought all the poodles were adopted ... Meet the poodle puppy mom! Amber is a 2 year old, 46.5 pound Standard Poodle who was owner surrendered along with her four pups (all of them have been adopted). She is a sweet and affectionate beauty! Amber loves her person and wants to be near them. She is very friendly and loves to snuggle and give kisses. At night she sleeps on a large dog bed in the master bedroom, all sprawled out! Amber gets along well with all humans. She has not been around children and could potentially be too bouncy for a small child when she gets excited. Amber needs some basic training but she learns quickly. She is so smart! She is housebroken, knows her name, will normally go outside when prompted, is learning the 'down' and 'sit' commands, and will wait in her place for her meals. She is very treat and praise motivated and responds to the tone of your voice. Amber is high energy and needs regular stimulation and activity'|playing, walks, dog park visits, etc. She loves toys, especially stuffed animals and balls. She does ok for short periods of time when her person is gone from home, but could get into mischief if left alone for long periods. She likes to put her front feet up on the counter and investigate whatever is up there, but she is learning and doing so well with staying down and avoiding that temptation. Amber is a submissive dog and can be a little timid at first meet with other dogs but she gets along great with all the other dogs in her foster home, both big and small. She would benefit from having a playful furbuddy in her home. One of her best friends is her bigger foster sister. They love to play chase with a ball and run around the back yard. She is very interested in her foster mom's cat and will watch her for long periods of time, but leaves her completely alone other than that. She has a very healthy appetite and gobbles her food down plus looks for other's leftovers. Amber walks well on a leash and is ok in the car but she needs to learn how to stay in one place. She is an indoor dog and should not be left outdoors for any length of time. Poodles have hair, not fur, and they're not good outside in hot or cold weather. She likes being indoors and sometimes needs to be made to stay outside so she takes care of her business, but after doing so, she will let you know when it's time to come in. Poodles require regular trips to the groomer and they should be regularly brushed to avoid matting. Amber has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, spayed, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has a ProHeart 12 shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. Amber's perfect home is going to have a fenced in yard since so she can get plenty of exercise, another playful dog of like size, an active household, a family that is often at home, and plenty of love and affection!
