About Archie (FKA Rufus)

LOCATION: McKinney, Texas AGE/DOB: 4 years, 05/2018 (estimate) My name is Archie. I'm a big drooly goofy boy looking for adventure. Read on for more fun facts about me. The vet says I am 4 but I sometimes have the inquisitiveness and playfulness of a 1-2-year-old Dane. I have average energy and average temperament. I sometimes want to sleep with you up on the bed (if I'm allowed) or sometimes I will just choose to sleep in my crate if the door is open. I will go in my crate if needed and may moan for a bit but settle down fairly quickly. I get along with my large dog siblings just fine - but I don't really know what to do when they try and play with me. I don't like cats and try to chase them and also don't like small dogs that can be mistaken for cats. I would probably do best in a house without little children as I often try to lean a bit on my people but am friendly with people of all ages. I am able to eat only a few feet from my doggy housemates and don't seem food aggressive. I pretty much want whatever squeaky toy my sibling has at that moment and will bark at them to tell them or try and grab it at an opportune moment. I do love all things squeaky and crinkly and have been known to pull plastic water bottles from the human's backpacks to chomp on and chew up (empty or not!). I am great on a gentle leader leash although I do pull a bit on a regular leash. I am a bit of an explorer and if someone doesn't shut the front door promptly - will walk on outside for an adventure. (I do come back eventually!). I am a decent car rider, but I can bark at people on the street at times. I like to either drool over the shoulder of the driver or stick my nose out of the window on the journey. In general, I have a pretty mellow disposition and go with the flow. I can sometimes be startled by strange noises in a new place, but I acclimate quickly. I don't like the robot vacuum cleaner much and often tell him so! I am house trained but am still working on giving my humans a signal when i want to go outside. I know how to sit, shake hands, lie down and stay. Who knows what you could teach me.
