About Louie

Poor Louie was found as a stray, all matted and in poor condition. His owner was not found, so he came to our rescue. Louie is a 13-14 year old Shih Tzu mix who is looking for a great forever home. He is deaf and blind. He spends most of his day lounging in his dog bed or beds. He plays musical dog beds and moves around between them. He learns the yard and house very fast. He walks the perimeter of the yard and learns it. For this reason, a fenced yard is a must. Due to his blindness, he does not like to walk on a leash. Also, no stairs. I currently pick him up to go in and out of the house due to my two stairs. When he is ready to come in, he barks twice for assistance. He is a very good eater and his heart medicine are added to his food. He has the beginning stage congestive heart failure. His coughing has stopped on his medicine (enalapril. vetmedin, and lasix) and he's now asymptomatic. Louis could have one year or three years. At present, he is doing very well. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heart-worm negative, fecal negative and micro-chipped. He also had a dental and had 16 teeth pulled which has made him more comfortable, as well. He weighs about 16 lbs. He is very laid back and a pleasant guy. Not an ounce of trouble! He is being fostered in the Chicago suburbs.
