About Doobie

Chihuahua / Yorkie
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION. 1. Adults only in the home. 2. Would probably prefer to be the only dog in the home. 10-year-old male Chorkie (Chihuahua/Yorkie, about 4.25 pounds. Doobie is small but has lots of personality! He is a sweet old guy with a bit of a funny attitude. Bossy is the best way to put it. More like 'Get off my Lawn' rather than 'I'm going to get you'. He's an old man who came into rescue in very rough shape. He had every right to be grumpy as he did not receive the medical care he desperately needed. When he arrived, he only had two teeth and a VERY enlarged prostate (from not being neutered). This caused him to continually strain while pooping for 20 minutes or more without producing any more poo. He was miserable with low energy and very grumpy! It was quickly determined that he needed to be neutered ASAP, which would immediately help shrink the prostrate! As the same time, we had the last two rotten teeth pulled. The straining has decreased dramatically and his prostrate is slowly shrinking. As all good old men do, he takes daily Metamucil to help with his bowel movements. After recovering from surgery, his energy has returned and his likes to go for walks! He learned the doggie door at the fosters home, but accidents do still occur. He is a bit wary in a large group of dogs. He likes to cuddle with his 'foster aunties' but MUST be the dog that is closest to his people. Yes, he can be a bit of a brat about that. The other dogs can lay next to him or the opposite side. LOL For his senior years, he would like a family with adults, no small children. He does not like to be alone and will follow you around the house. He does not like the vacuum or lawn mower and thinks he's 10 feet tall when they come out! A fenced yard would be helpful, as he tends to still like to dilly dally while pooping. Old habits die hard, but they are slowly getting better! Adoption contract and fee applies. All adoptable dogs can be met at adoption events hosted every weekend. For a list of scheduled events go to: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/events . Smidget Rescue is not a shelter, and dogs cannot be seen at the Rescue location. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters. Additional pictures of adoptable dogs can be seen at: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/photos_stream?tab=photos_albums. All adoptable dogs are spayed or neutered at 6 months of age or older. Puppies are adopted with a refundable spay/neuter deposit (in addition to the adoption fee) and adopters are required to get their puppy to our vet for their pre-scheduled spay-neuter appointments. APPLICATIONS CAN BE OBTAINED BY EMAIL ONLY. Adoption process includes application, meet & greet, home visit and reference check. Email Jamie at [email protected] or click on the CONTACT link on this page. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS BEFORE SENDING. We get a fair number of incorrect emails and Jamie is not able to contact potential adopters. Notice: We do not ship dogs out of state unless you are within a five-hour radius of Seattle, WA, (such as Portland, Vancouver B.C., etc.), so we can arrange for a home visit. If your home seems like a great fit for the dog you would like to adopt, you must then drive to meet the dog at one of our weekend events or at the fosters home.
