About Queenie

You can apply for our wonderful dogs at https://www.milehighcanine.org/adopt/adoption-application/. Our girl Queenie is on the market! This 3 year old sweetie has a very sad story to tell. We first found out about her when she was networked to us by a team of volunteers in Roswell, NM. She had been surrendered by the shelter there with her puppies. She was horrified and we imagine the stress of the shelter and potentially the use of a catch pole caused her some trauma that is taking her some time to process. When she first arrived, she was air snapping at us and alligator rolling on leash. It was heartbreaking to say the least. After some down time and some behavior work, she's coming right along and remember what it's like to be a beloved family pet. Queenie now walks beautifully on a leash. She is good with other dogs (but prefers larger, somewhat playful dogs, but not annoying puppies like her foster sibling). Queenie is still very much driven by fear, but she warms up with some patience. Her ideal home will provide just the right balance of push to try new things and patience to settle in. She will thrive with a fenced in yard and an adult only household. We truly believe that having other resident dogs will contribute greatly to her success in a home. Queenie is house and crate trained. She weighs only around 30-35 lbs.
