About Val

Australian Shepherd / Collie
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Picture the joy and happiness when a child goes to the beach and sees the ocean for the first time'| Or the first time they go to a toy store or when they get to do something new like ride a pony! Imagine being able to be a part of that excitement every single day!!! That is what life with Val would be. Every time she goes for a walk her eyes light up and she looks all around - she gets excited to see everything from people to dogs to squirrels to trees to birds. She has come such a long way in the month or so she has been with her foster mom. She loves to walk, loves all people, and now she even enjoys playing with other dogs. She is still very much a puppy ( 1 - 2 years old) and wants so much to please her person. She will look at you with her big brown eyes and you can see the love. She is the perfect age - young enough to be lots of fun and enjoy learning, but already house trained and completely non-destructive in the house when left alone. Val gets excited and a little nervous when she meets new people or goes to visit but she will settle down nicely given time. I do like all children but since I tend to get pretty excited and would probably tend to knock small ones down like a strike at a bowling alley, no children or older sturdier kids would be OK. Val is a rare breed - a shepcurcollie mix that weighs about 45 pounds. Say what? You've never heard of a shepcurcollie mix? They are the new rage that is sweeping the country! Honestly, we just made that up but it sounds cool to me and that's how I choose to identify! I somehow got away from my family and was shepcurcolliein' around some rural parts until I got picked up and taken to a shelter! Unfortunately, the shelter was packed full of unwanted dogs and my time was up. Thank heavens that a rescue came and took me and a bunch of other dogs so that we could have our second chance. My foster mom has me on a great routine and I am enjoying life. We go for a nice long walk in the mornings and I get to go to the dog park. Then I come home exhausted and lay around the house most of the day and sleep. However, don't worry I will keep an eye on you and make sure nothing happens to you while we're home. So if you get up to go in another room I may follow you there to make sure nothing bad happens to you and lay down in that room with you. Then after dinner in the evenings we go for another nice walk. I like to lay on my foster mom's front deck when it's nice outside and watch people walking by and cars going by. And I like riding in cars too! I have a nice big fenced in backyard and I go out there sometimes to look around and maybe sit for a few minutes but I don't wanna be out there too long because I want to make sure that you're OK inside. So I'd much rather be inside with you than outside for very long. I am very interested in the cats, squirrels, and rabbits in my neighborhood so I would probably do best in a home without small animals. I love water - laying down in the creek at the park and running through it are so much fun! I would love a home where somebody's home some and not gone all day. I get sad when my person is not around for a really long periods of time. I would be perfectly happy being an only dog if you don't have one, but I do enjoy playing with them so maybe some trips to the dog park or a friend with another dog I could play with sometimes. So whadda ya' say! Are you ready to be the proud new parent of a 'shepcurcollie' named Val? Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and are scheduling individual adoptions in the Waynesboro, VA area during the pandemic. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
