Available for adoption in Virginia Rocket is a very handsome, fun-loving, 1-2 year old, 50 lb, black tri Australian Shepherd. Rocket was rescued from a shelter in Mississippi where he was a staff favorite, but we do not know much about his past. Rocket is a high-energy, high Velcro boy looking for an adopter who will be patient with him. He needs someone that can spend a lot of time with him and provide appropriate outlets for him to get the physical and mental exercise that he requires. If you don't give him something to do, he will find something. He is also very loving and a wonderful cuddler when his exercise needs are met. He loves tennis balls and bones, but is still working on mastering fetch. He is a HUGE fan of water! If you have a pool, or a creek or river nearby, he will be in heaven. He's even happy in a puddle or a baby pool! He may excel at dock diving. Rocket knows some basic obedience and is working on his manners. He walks pretty well on leash and loves long walks. He is potty trained and rings a bell when he needs to go. He is crate trained and at this time, prefers to sleep in his crate. Cats are too much for Rocket's boundless energy. He is a huge puppy in size and at heart and would do best in a home without young children. He does jump and gets excited easily. Rocket would do best with another young, playful dog who is not an alpha. Australian Shepherd or herding dog/high energy breed experience is a MUST. A fenced yard is ideal for Rocket. Rocket also needs someone who is committed to ongoing training. Rocket is neutered and fully vetted. He is located in Virginia Beach and is ready for his next adventure! If Rocket sounds like a great fit for you, please fill out our application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.
