About Maggie

MAGIE WAS ADOPTED. I am so sorry- but this post is not deleting despite my efforts. I keep getting inquiries..... I wish you all the best on your doggie hunt but this girl is taken. This is Maggie. She is 3 years old but puppy like. She is quite sweet, playful, and reasonably well behaved. She was my fathers dog, who has dementia. He got her as a puppy and never trained her. It is also likely that he would yell at her and yank/pinch her when she wouldn't come to him although we don't know the details. So, she is currently doing much better with potty training but still has occasional accidents. She does well with other dogs but can be dominant. I have a sweet pit bull in the home so she is used to another large dog. She's also met the neighbors' dogs and no issue, just playful. She does nip at times, but it's quite predictable (someone is invading her space or trying to get her food- I don't know what this means or how engrained this behavior is). She is progressively getting better. She would do best with someone who is home a lot and can give her the consistency she needs to succeed. She would be an excellent companion to this type of living situation. She loves to play fetch, go for walks, and can be pretty chill after getting her wiggles out- she is not high energy all the time. She is crate trained at night time for a solid 8-9 hours and her potty habits are quite predictable. She is ready to thrive. I don't know how she would be with kids, but I know she would not like being annoyed and poked at and would likely nip in this scenario, so small children who just don't know better- I would be very cautioned. I am getting a lot of hits on her. Due to her challenges she would not be an ideal first dog, but someone who understands the importance of training. Many people love this breed I am aware, and most are ideal fits. We prefer you to be in the area (Sacramento, Ca) so you can meet, and we can all agree (mainly her) that this is a good fit. I need to see that she is comfortable with you and that will not happen in 1 meeting, most likely a few. Although I cannot keep her, I am very protective of her and will not fail her future. So please keep in mind everything I have mentioned (especially all the not so cute stuff) when considering this girl. She is a work in progress, not just a cute doggy. But she is really special and a cool dog, and she deserves more than I can give her. UPDATE - I AM NOT ACCEPTING NEW CANDIDATES FOR MAGGIE AND WON'T RESPOND TO NEW CANDIDATES I HAVE NOT ENGAGED WITH. I will remove the post when she is fully adopted, but I am moving fwd with 1 potential, and have a couple back ups to proceed with after that. Thank you everyone who has considered her. She just gets better and better :)
