About Oberon

Location: Woodbine, Georgia Age: 3 years old Oberon (AKA Obie) doesn't trust the government, being in cars, or thunderstorms. He is a fan of conspiracy theories and used to think that everything was out to get him. With time, this big lug learned to trust his foster momma - she is his support person and has helped him conquer most of his fears. What, you ask, did he find suspicious? Squirrels, birds, leaves. And suspicious things in his sphere had to be chased away! He gives her the Dane lean and works his head under her hand for pets. Head rubs are this boy's favorite. Along with his LARGE stuffed bone that he prances around with. Obie has a lot of energy to burn off and takes multiple long walks each day - and does well on a loose leash/harness. He'll even stop to smell the flowers. And then he'll get the zoomies! Silly Obie. Because of his size and anxieties (he is on Prozac to fight for his anxiety and behavior), he needs his person to have giant breed experience and be willing to help him with his fears. When he doesn't have a trusty support person, he is fearful, and when he is fearful he can be reactive. The key to his success has been trust-building with his person, time, and patience. This guy has lived with dogs previously and would also be fine with a very dog-savvy cat that doesn't run from him. A running cat means time to chase! He doesn't trust younger kiddos - they are on his list of suspicious, non-trustworthy items. This loving, Velcro boy has made great improvements with the support of his foster momma.
