About Cisco

American Bulldog / Lab
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Meet Cisco! He is a 2.5-year old lab mix located in Buzzards Bay, MA. Originally from the Sunshine State, he was adopted as an 8-week-old puppy weighing 5 pounds but has since grown into a muscular 78-pound young man! He is sweet, playful, and very well-mannered. Cisco is a wonderful and loving family dog. He is protective of his home and family members and loves to cuddle and get attention. He forgets that he is not really a lap dog because he does try to get on laps to cuddle. He is full of dog kisses and sometimes gives a few to many! Cisco has been very socialized and is a good traveler who enjoys car rides. He loves to go on walks, hikes, and runs, as well as going to the lake. There he'll find special sticks to chew on or carry them while walking. He investigates every scent and thinks he's a K-9 drug sniffing dog. He has one pet peeve! Though he hates the rain and prefers to 'hold it' rather than getting wet, he does go in the water at the beach. A real goofball! Like most large dogs, Cisco has a strong bark. When company comes over, let him figure things out with those investigative powers of his and it won't take long for your visitors to become his new best friends. He loves to play with his toys, but the hard rubber variety is best because anything with stuffing lasts about 5 minutes! He loves all sorts of balls, but his favorite is a big red soccer ball. Cisco enjoys most doggie friends. He likes to wrestle with dogs his size and play with them at dog parks. He has experience being boarded where he also interacts with dogs. Sometimes he doesn't want to share his bones or water bowl, so if his new home has other dogs, they should have separate feeding areas. Though he has canine pals, he recently started to be anxious and reactive to small dogs. While playing on a deck with another dog, he noticed a small dog walking by on leash. Cisco then jumped over the railing and bit the dog. Several stitches were needed, but the dog is OK. Based on details, Cisco may have been overstimulated since he was roughhousing with his dog friend at the time. Cisco's owners are heart-broken about rehoming Cisco, but to prevent this from ever happening again, they realize he needs a family that has a tall, secure fenced-in yard. They are unable to provide this. He really is a wonderful dog otherwise, but needs an experienced dog owner to manage his issues with small dogs, and keep him leashed when outside of the fence. Cisco is neutered, UTD on shots, and microchipped. He is housetrained and respects his home. He has allergies that cause skin irritation. To keep his skin and coat healthy, he takes Apoquel, Omega 3 chews, and salmon-based food. No cats or other small animals - they're too much fun to chase! Kids 8+.
