About Amma

Urgent - Chico, California - Amma CHICO, CALIFORNIA (1/2 hr north of Sacramento, California) - AMMA female saint bernard mix 2 yrs old (DOB JULY 2, 2020) - Was adopted by family when she was 5 weeks old (person selling lied about ages). Amma (rhymes with Llama) is UTD/Spay and has seizures that are control with meds. Family states that: She would do best as an only dog, she would never hurt my cats but she does chase them when I'm not on her. She is extremely affectionate and sweet with those she trusts. She is fearful of strangers and tends to bark and growl at them. However, she has been in training for the past few months and doing great on an e-collar. We walk her and she is not lunging people passing by and other dogs. Preferably she would be with a family with no children or older children and no other pets. She would need someone who lives in a home with a fenced yard. Someone who works from home would be ideal. She has a very high play drive, she loves fetch (although she won't always drop the ball) and loves to play tug a war with a rope. She is really goofy and has personality for days. She has epilepsy and is on lots of meds . I haven't yet spoke with the pet insurance but I'm hoping we could transfer the plan to a new owner I get reimbursed 90% through her insurance . Keppra is $35/month Paroxitine is $20/month Gabapentin $30/month She takes clonidine and trazadone as needed. Honestly it's probably less than $20/month total for everything after insurance reimburses me. She won't tolerate nail trims so she has to go to the vet and be completely sedated. It's around $200 but after insurance about $20. She always have seizures if I board her (which is why I never do anymore). She is fearful at first of strangers. But once she trusts someone she is very affectionate. She is free to a family that will love and care for her. (pls note, a few photos of her when a puppy).
