About Sammy

Dachshund / Chihuahua
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

My husband and I took Sammy in back in July of 2018 and he was estimated to be 3 years old. He has been a wonderful addition to our family since then. (He was even the ring bearer in our wedding!) He is comfortable around other dogs (Large, Medium, Small) and cats. He has been living with a young child and we have never experienced any aggression. He has been exposed to all age groups and loves everybody he meets. He has displayed a fear of feet since we have been around him, and we believe that he may have been kicked by previous owners. With this, he is also anxious with people. Even with that, once he gets to know you he has so much love to give! Sammy would do great at a home that he could be outside more often than inside (we currently live in an apartment, so he is not able to be outside and play as often as he wants to), but he does love to snuggle under a warm blanket and cuddle the night away. His favorite tricks are Sit and 'Tell Me' (his version of speak) Medical Concerns: A couple years back we had to take Sammy to the emergency vet because he was vomiting blood. While at the animal hospital, they informed us that he has stomach ulcers, and that something must have irritated them. He was given fluids and medicine to lower his acid production, but they said that his body would heal relatively on it's own, but they may resurface. We have loved Sammy for several years and have loved having him in our family, but we believe that he would be happier in a home that is more fit for what he needs.
