About Carmel (Boise ID)

Hi, my name is Carmel. The vet thinks I'm 6-8 years old and a mix of Corgi and Golden, and yes, my legs are a tad short. Since I was abandoned with no background info, my foster mom and I are becoming acquainted. No-pull harness walks are the best and I'm learning dogs barking behind fences are just trash talking and they don't actually know my momma. Sitting calmly and 'leave it' earn a morsel of treat. Praise and belly scratches are the best rewards for sit, down, stay, and sitting at the back door when I need to go outside. My house mate is an older, calm dog and we get along just fine after a slow introduction. I need to lose some weight, so I'm on a weight maintenance diet with limited snacks, but don't call me a Chunky Monkey or I will bark at you. Really! How rude! My tummy gets a little upset sometimes, so I take a Pepcid before meals and fish oil in my breakfast has eliminated my itchy neck. Broccoli, peas, and carrots are welcome additions to breakfast. Sometimes I get excited and yell HI HI Hi to the little kids riding bikes/scooters, or running in front of the house. After my foster mom calms me down she lets me go back to watching the world outside. I might also yell HI Hi Hi to dogs walking by. The neighbor dog is naughty. When she growls, barks and snarls at me through the fence, I am learning 'away' without reacting earns me high praise. More trash talk! Going to the coffee hut with my foster dad is a real treat and I'm learning patience and not to sing the song of my people so I can have a little bite of a treat. My foster mom says I am really smart, eager to learn, and love to please people. I am kennel trained, but prefer to lay next to you and dream of new adventures with my forever family.
