About Jake

I rescued Jake from an ad off of CL about 8 yrs ago when I was single and only had a cat. He is about 55 lbs and on the larger side for a Border Collie, I think he is pure breed American Border Collie which are larger. I am unsure of his exact age as his old owner had a spotty story. I am thinking no more than 10 or 11. He came from a situation that wasn't the best. He needs to be an inside/outside dog. Not just outside only. He has had some stomach issues; I keep at bay with good quality dog food, Billjac or Solid Gold. No rescent issues/no meds. He Loves car rides. Gets scared when there is thunder and hides. Kennel trained. I think there was some neglect and abuse with previous owner. He loves to hike and walk, but this is less as he gets older. He is good with our cat and other dogs but needs time to warm up to anyone new or another animal being introduced. He can nip when he gets nervous around other dogs but has never drawn blood. He is very smart and extremely affectionate; he can get quite insecure and jealous with other animals around when he doesn't get the attention. He is very faithful; we are building our family and are not sure how he will be around kids. He is house trained and doggy door trained. He will bark if other dogs are barking otherwise, he likes to lounge during the day.
