About CANELO

This animal is available to licensed rescue groups only. Please do not enquire unless with a licensed rescue group. He's cute; he's comical; he's CANELO (#A2016863)! And he's rescue-only, because his 'human' said he was aggressive to people. He was relinquished to the East Valley Animal Shelter, Van Nuys, CA, in February and placed in quarantine (his 'crime' isn't clear to me). Nevertheless, 5-year-old CANELO is now out in the general kennels, and spending time with him is a hoot. CANELO loves tennis balls, and as soon as he spots one in the play yard, he's off and running. He doesn't like to give it up, but he'll taunt me with it. When he takes a break and lays down, the ball stays between his legs. When no ball/toy is around, he calmly sits nearby. He appears to be camera-shy, so trying to capture his face and smile full-on isn't easy. I am not aware of CANELO having been in a play group, but he has, thus far, been non-reactive to dogs that might be in the adjacent play yard and when walking through the kennel corridor. I want to believe that there is a rescue that will want to, at least, meet CANELO to see what I and other volunteers see in him, and then, hopefully, pull him from the shelter.
