About Kenya

Adoption Fee: $200
German Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

I've fostered Kenya for 3 months as her original owner needed emergency placement. I would add her to my pack permanently but she needs to go to a home with no small animals (dogs or cats) as she's broken into my 'cat room' multiple times and is hyperfocused on them. She is about a year and a half, and needs all vetting (shots + spay). Vet reference for adopter preferred. She is extremely loving and loves to give kisses. She will jump in greeting (her original owner encouraged this--we're working on '4 on the floor' but it's a work in progress!) but it's a very soft jump. Due to this I'd recommend older kids only or proper management. She isn't human aggressive at all. She must have access to a fenced back yard and excels best with lots of outside enrichment. She loves long lead loose 'sniffaris', but does not have controlled/heeled leash skills. She is comfortable wearing her harness, but is still working on the sitting nicely with on/off. She loves to play chase with my heeler but riles up my bigger dogs during play. 'Kenny' originally was underweight and had some dandruff. She is doing very well now on Purina Pro Plan (salmon) with fish oil supplements. Crate Training: Work in progress. She will generally crate up when she is following a treat in and 'crate up' cue, as long as she's had sufficient enrichment. She is not super food motivated, but learned 'sit' quickly, which we reinforce anytime she comes out of her crate, or to get a treat etc.
