About Barry

Barry is a high energy boy who loves to play. He's very smart and needs a person who is a strong leader. Barry thrives on consistency and positive discipline. He needs a home with older children only. He's good with most other dogs once he gets to know them. Barry is very vocal until he gets used to his environment. He often sounds like he's ferocious but it's just his voice; he's not aggressive, just very energetic. Barry settles nicely when he realizes playtime is over and he loves to be near his person or people. He loves playing ball and tug of war. Barry would love to be an only dog but for someone willing to be patient, he could live happily with another dog. He isn't a true alpha but he won't put up with being bullied by other dogs. Barry requires a fenced yard and would love someone who loves to go for walks, but he's strong and needs someone who will be sure he obeys. Barry is very smart and is obedient when you have his attention. He would benefit from clicker training. Barry is a handful when he gets over excited, and will need patience and firm positive guidance. His foster mom has worked with him to realize his neighbors are allowed to be in their own yards without his approval, and now he barely notices them. He may do the same in a new place until he learns where his turf ends. Barry knows to sit on command and will give you his paw for a shake. New environments and situations get him extremely excited, but once things become familiar, he does really well and he is so loyal.
