Purebred intact female American Akita. ~21 months. AKC, but number/papers were lost a long time ago. We got her from a neighbor that couldn't keep her anymore, but we are just fostering her while we try to find her a home. She is wonderful with people and works as an excellent alert dog. She barks when people approach the house, but once we let them in, she is happy to see them and very affectionate. She just lets you know when someone is there, but other than that, she is very quiet. She gets along with our male Alaskan Malamute, but does not get along with most other dogs. She should probably be the only pet in her new home. She is crate-trained and behaves well in a crate. She is generally low-energy, and only needs to be taken outside twice a day to use the bathroom. She should be supervised while outside because Akitas are incredibly intelligent, and if you leave her outside alone, she will probably be able to figure out how to escape and come find you. When she can see you, though, she will not try to escape if you have her leashed/in a fence. Koda is extremely affectionate. She could make a great companion and alert dog, but she is 90 pounds, fast, strong, and extremely intelligent, so she is not a dog for beginners. Adoption fee is $300 to ensure that her new owners will be able to fully commit to her. If interested, please contact me at (865)200-9156. Text or call.
