About Ally

Hi, my name is Ally. I am a beautiful, 13-month-old Black-Mouthed Cur (yes, that's a breed) and weigh 85 pounds. I think I'm done getting bigger as I've finally grown into my paws. My breed comes from the Southeastern US and we are good herders and hunters. I've been with my family for 8 months and they've taught me how to sit, shake, stay, lay down, walk well on a leash, halt and heel. I'm also completely house-trained and will let my owners know when it's time to go outside. My family needs to re-home me because they don't have a fenced yard and I need an abundance of time to run off-leash. I love to go hiking with them and run around at the dog park, but I need more exercise, which a fenced yard, farm, or large property would do. Ideally, I would do well with an owner who loves the outdoors as well. We have another dog named Joely, who is a 13-year-old Labradoodle. She and I get along well and she puts me in my place if I get too exuberant. I would do great with another dog, a puppy, or on my own. I've seen a few cats and am curious about them, but not aggressive. Not sure how I'd do with a cat in the house with me. I get along great with kids. My owners have a 6-year-old granddaughter and 9-year-old grandson and they love me and I love them. I'm a bit nervous around adult visitors, but I'm getting more used to people coming over, especially when they give me treats. Sometimes, my owners get frustrated with me because I don't come back when I'm called. I never stray far away, so they can always see me, but I want to run. They use a buzz collar to get my attention when I don't come back right away and that works well. I also love baths and any kind of water. I'm a really good swimmer and I'm really happy riding in the car and going places with my people. Please consider me! I'd be a great pet for someone on a farm or large property or with a fenced yard, so I can run to my heart's content. Thanks for looking, ALLY
