About Bobby

Meet Bobby! This sweet, smart, and energetic 2 year-old 60-pound Boxer mix from Chelsea, MA will knock your socks off! His ambition in life is to be a loyal, loving companion. Bobby's outdoor repertoire of favorite things are going on long walks, playing fetch, and showing off his zoomies. If you like enjoyable walks, Bobby is great on-leash. If you like to jog or hike, look no further for an eager side kick. You'll have no problem getting to your adventure site because he also enjoys car rides. For quieter activities, he enjoys yak chews, snuffle boxes, and frozen Kongs. Bobby's one of those dogs who likes to know what's what. He thrives on structure as well as taking time to warm up to new people. He appreciates being able to approach people when he is ready. Bobby is an incredibly fast learner and is very food motivated. He attended basic obedience classes and also knows many tricks like sit, roll-over, heel, touch, shake, he can even spin! Bobby never lived with children and prefers it that way! His owners didn't know he'd be leary of kids, and having them was always in their plans. Now they are thinking ahead and working with ARK to find a perfect pet parent and environment for Bobby. Besides two-legged kids, he is iffy with some dogs and not a candidate for dog parks and doggie day care, but has occasional play time with a neighbor dog. One on one with proper introductions is the key! He prefers flying solo as the only pet, but has more than enough love to give. Bobby would want you to know that personal space is important. For him it means he doesn't like to be disturbed while sleeping (who does?!) eating, or feeling cornered. Easy to manage, right? Well not by pet sitters who don't follow instructions about giving Bobby space! As a result, he bit the sitter to cause a puncture and also nipped a visitor he didn't know when the person knelt down to pet him. In response to these incidents, Bobby's owners brought him to a Veterinary Behaviorist, which went well. They are now using strategies to make him more comfortable around strangers and situations where he may otherwise be uncomfortable. He is also working with a trainer. Bobby likes a small world in which to live because he is challenged by stranger danger, which is part of his trust issues. His dream is to have a loving, quiet, patient person who will help build his confidence, ensure people respect his boundaries, and on the fun side, teach him new tricks! He also needs a single-family home, preferably a quiet neighborhood with less stimulation than a city or apartment would have. Ideally, he would love a fenced-in yard where he can play fetch, do zoomies, and use his sniffer. One outdoor game he enjoys is hide-and-seek. If you hide treats, he will find them! If you have experience with dogs and can provide him the home he needs, then Bobby could be your next best friend.
