About Crusoe

Anatolian Shepherd / Australian Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Crusoe is an Australian Shepherd/Anatolian/Pointer mix. He was originally adopted from Prairie Paws in Grand Prairie over four years ago where he was picked up as a stray. He was neutered and received his shots at that time. We think he was likely abandoned as he has never made an attempt to run or escape the yard. He is house trained. He is very sweet, quiet most of the time, and good with most adults and children under most circumstances. For some reason he has issues with taller men and has snapped at and bitten at least a couple of friends who have visited or been working on the house, though never seriously harmed anyone. He is great with smaller dogs, but not with cats or smaller pets. He has killed one guinea pig and several quail, as well as numerous birds and squirrels who landed in the yard. He is very territorial and a great guard dog, though this can come across as slightly neurotic and he has made several trails in our yard from chasing cars in the alley and street. He has clearly received training and goes to his bed on command, comes to his name, and is very attentive. We love him and do not want to give him up, but he needs someone who is a better fit, can give him a little more daily attention and no small pets.
