About Saint Nick

Hi - I'm Saint! I am a Plott Hound mix, part of the coon hound family, and with my beautiful brindle coat, am often called very handsome (so I'm told). Let me tell you a little about my breed and myself. I'm a true all-American dog, as Plott hounds are one of only a handful of American Kennel Club (AKC)-registered breeds developed in the United States. I'm very loyal and devoted to my family. That sometimes means I come across as a little standoffish if I don't know you, but my wagging tail is a dead give-away. I also like children, though sometimes my size (and my bark, which is a hound dog howl) can be a little off-putting at first. Like all Plotts, I need regular exercise. I love being able to roam freely in a securely fenced yard- either my own, or with frequent visits to a local dog park. I also enjoy regular walks, and, of course, sniffing. In between, I have a favorite spot on the couch that give me opportunity for ample petting! Speaking of petting, over the past few months, I've discovered the joy of being petted with daily neck rubs and all-over body rubs being a particular favorite, and am learning how to ask for and show affection. Overall, I'm a pretty mellow fellow, and respect my place in the pecking order, if there are other animals in your home. I like bones and hard toys. I'm very food oriented, and highly motivated by treats. I've learned to wait my turn. In fact, I've learned several commands, and have been told I'm smart and very trainable. I'm really liking this family stuff and would love you to consider adopting me.
