About Leo

Adoption Fee: $375
Australian Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Coming soon in the Northeast. Currently in North Branford, CT Leo fka Bruno is a 3 year old Blue Merle male Australian Shepherd. He weighs about 60 lbs, is neutered, UTD on preventatives and vaccinations. No known health problems. Ideal Home: Leo prefers to be the only dog in the home, ideally with a fenced yard for plenty of exercise! Meet Leo! This lovable, smart boy had a rough start and was surrendered to a kill shelter by his previous owner for a couple episodes of nipping (no skin contact). While withdrawing from a very high sedative dose at the shelter and recouping from his neuter, Leo was transported to his foster home and fearfully bit his new foster father on the arm. After 2 weeks of TLC and decompression, Leo was officially pain and medication-free, revealing his friendly, cuddly self! Although he is not fond of the other Aussie pup in the house, his foster father is now his best friend! Leo has now been in his foster home for 5 weeks and is the definition of a 'velcro dog'. He has not displayed any aggression towards humans (foster parents or strangers), he just wants to play fetch and be your sidekick! Leo knows basic commands and is always eager to learn more. Leo loves his daily walks, playtime and belly rubs! He is believed to have spent little time outdoors, so he is learning to manage sensory overload. Leo is housetrained, but stays in an exercise pen when his foster parents are at work, surrounded by all his favorite toys, bed and blanket. He tolerates being left alone and is a true 'wiggle-butt' when his humans come home. Leo is excellent at learning new tricks, cuddling, and fetch! Leo loves bully sticks, raw marrow bones, and jerky treats! His favorite toys are squeaker balls (the more noise, the better!), rope toys and squeaky plush toys. Like most Aussies, Leo is high energy and loves running/jumping for his favorite toys. Leo still needs work on moving cars and dog reactivity, high value treat guarding (bully sticks, marrow bones), pulling on leash. He is not cat or children tested. This loyal pup got a second chance at life and, with lots of love and a whole bunch of treats, will nose his way into your heart! Are you wanting to give this sweet boy a furever home?
