About Colby

Adoption Fee: $50
German Shorthaired Pointer / Beagle
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

This sweet, cow-colored mushmellow had a rough start to life. Abandoned by his family at a vet office, Colby spent two years kenneled there and bouncing around between the homes of the staff members. He then ended up at a shelter and finally found a woman who fell head over heels in love with him. Finally Colby had the committed forever home he had always craved! But sadly, they only had a few years together before she suddenly passed away and Colby was uprooted all over again. Colby is being well cared for by her family members but they cannot keep him long term. They are looking for a very special adopter who can once and for all give him the stability, devotion and love he has been missing. In return, Colby will be your most loyal friend. Colby is an incredibly loving and loyal pup who loves nothing more than to snuggle against you on the couch and get constant pets. He has the softest fur and cutest most expressive ears. He has adorable bouts of playfulness and loves his toys, especially his squeaky alligator - his previous owner kept an endless supply for him! Although he adores being with his people, he is also great when left alone in the house. He is quiet, housebroken, and completely non-destructive in your absence. Colby is dog selective, but gets along great with the ones he decides he likes after proper introduction. He is a little too curious about cats, so no cats for him. Because of his traumatic history, Colby has some anxiety and trouble trusting people. Can you blame him? He has worked with a veterinary behaviorist and is on anxiety medication which has helped him tremendously. He also just spent 3 weeks at a positive- reinforcement based board and train and is making amazing progress every day. Colby needs an adopter who is committed to continuing his training and medication regimen to help him realize his full potential. His family is offering consultation sessions with his trainer to answer any questions and are willing to discuss sponsoring some of his training going forward. Colby has so much love to give, he just needs someone who will open their heart and give him the chance to show it!
