About Fester

Fester was an owner surrender in a small Texas town with a tiny kill shelter. He turned 3 in November 2021. He lived with a brother dog the entire time but one day they got into a bad fight that from that point on, led to numerous of them and the eventual death of the brother aussie. This happened in front of the mom and 4 kids. The owners then surrendered him to the shelter for euthanasia but the animal control officer called us to intervene. He is on cosequin and fish oil for his joints and will need to be for the duration of his life. As he ages, injections may be needed. This breed is prone to these type issues. Fester Loves people but does fear growl (new people, vets, nail trims, etc). He needs to be placed in a home with submissive dogs or no dogs but he does love my submissive females and he loves me!. He has been out with my entire pack of 24 and does have issues with my reactive growly dogs only. He prefers the females and does play and romp around with them and cuddle them also. He is reactive to dog growls and aggression and although he would be great in a home with a submissive female dog; I'd really prefer he be placed in a home with no others. He does have some arthritis in his hip and lower spine that he was born with. He will need to be on cosequin for the remainder of his life to prevent further damage. He loves to watch people in the bathtub and loves to get in it and drink from the spout! He will paw at you if you stop petting him and will back up to your foot to scratch him lol Regardless of his past issues, he is a fantastic dog and I love him very much. We do not transport our dogs and we require an approved adopter to pick up. Breed knowledgeable home required. There is an approval process. Located in Amarillo Texas
