About Chico

URGENT!! 72 HOUR NOTICE OF EUTHANASIA ON APRIL 26TH!! Chico is a beautiful 2 year old border collie and possible Australian shepherd mix, and he weighs 74 lbs. Chico is an outgoing and incredibly lovable dog. He is affectionate and loves getting hugs and kisses. Chico's favorite thing in the world to do is play ball-he will chase it and bring it right back and wait patiently for you to throw it again. Chico has the perfect combination of calm and active energy, so while he would love daily physical activity, he would also love to kick back and relax. He has a calming demeanor about him, but he always looks so happy to be around people. Chico is friendly and easy to handle, has medium energy, and is non-reactive. He knows basic manners in training, and he is good with other dogs. Chico would be a wonderful addition to someone's family, and he longs to find his forever home so he doesn't have to be in a kill shelter ever again and can live out his days happy, loved, and safe. Chico is described to have possible matted fur or growth on his eyelids, so that will need to be checked out by an adopter's or rescue group's vet as the shelter he is in has not treated it. Chico was actually brought in with another dog (Australian cattle dog) on February 13th by a program that helps homeless people care for their animals-so his owner was homeless, and for whatever reason they were separated. Chico and his companion dog were at the shelter for months until the owner eventually relinquished their rights to them, and now he and his companion dog are up for adoption. Because of the length of time Chico has been at the shelter, a 72 HOUR NOTICE OF EUTHANASIA was released on April 26th that if Chico is not adopted or rescued by April 29rd, he will be in danger of being euthanized--so this is an EMERGENCY!! A good forever home or a foster is needed ASAP to save Chico's life.
