About Duke

Adoption Fee: $400
Maltese
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

I'm gonna have to let my foster, Duke go to his forever home soon. When you nurse them back to health, it creates a loving bond. But he needs his own person! He won't share with other dogs or kids! Duke was relinquished to an open intake shelter by his owner in horrific condition. He was all matted and his rear leg was infected and very swollen. We thought it would have to be amputated. But Dr. Shorter at Archer Vet Clinic worked on his leg for many days, and it is healed. Thank you so much! He just got neutered and a dental and is doing great. Duke is a 2 year old Maltese. He is very affectionate and requires a lot of attention. He does not like other dogs and doesn't want to share his person. Also, no children. Has fear of littles and is unpredictable. He is a typical Maltese. He will bark at noises in the night and people walking past his home. He has a bit of separation anxiety and will howl a few minutes after his person leaves and for this reason, no apts or condos, please. A fenced yard would be ideal, but if you walk him often, this would be ok. He was just recently neutered and he is still marking. He needs a lot of help with housebreaking due to his unknown past. He was possibly never housebroken. A belly band helps in the house. He would love a single person or couple to give him all the attention he so deserves. He is about 2 years old and is about 8 lbs.
