About Sam

Sam is a 6 year old Pit Bull mix who came into the shelter as a stray on 3/16/22. He weighs 40 lbs. Here's what one of our shelter volunteers had to say about Sam: 'I think Sam had a rough life before coming in to the shelter. He appeared to be exhausted when he first came in, had a limp, and all he wanted to do was sleep for days. He was very flinchy and unsure if people were trying to hurt him. He's always been very sweet and gentle though. He doesn't understand what a leash is, and freezes if you put one on him. He allows me to carry him out to the play yard instead. He is starting to perk up and wags his tail now! He LOVES to eat and takes treats gently from your hand. He did well when I brought another dog into the play yard with him. He let her sniff him and pretty much did his own thing the rest of the time.'
