It is important you research the dog's lifestyle needs to make sure that they fit yours - just as you would ensure compatibility with a human, you are committing to share your life for 10+ years. Please take the time to read ALL information provided. TEDDY was saved from a shelter in the south. TEDDY is neutered, rabies, age-appropriate vaccines, heartworm & tick disease tested negative, dewormed and on monthly preventatives. He weighs around 70 pounds and has an estimated date of birth of 24 October 2017 . We have no way of knowing for sure what breed he is and so it is up to potential adopters to look at his pictures, video's many more can be found on the rescue website, and decide for themselves. TEDDY is located at Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec and is available for adoption for an adoption fee of $350. %BD%BD%BD'%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD Dog Application Form - https://www.giveadogahome-rescue.org/forms/form?formid=5838 TEDDY ended up in the shelter on 24 October 2020, 18 months of being in the shelter. He came to Give a Dog a Home Rescue in mid-April and was lucky to have a lovely lady willing to take him in to foster him to give him a loving, safe, happy place to stay whilst waiting for his forever family. TEDDY was lucky to have a foster step up for him and she says that he is eager to learn. He is house trained. He plays with others and just looking for a family. Teddy is a happy boy. He has met the young grandchildren and was great with them. The family also has two small pups and he is like a big brother with them, gentle and teaching them how to behave. He is a strong boy and does pull a little initially on the leash, but after a short time, he walks great. He did have a meet and greet with a family who brought 3 small children and went on a walk and he was wonderful and walked nicely and was happy to be with the family. However, they chose not to adopt him. As Teddy is a black dog it is hard to get good pictures, but his family sent some short clips of him playing with his temporary brother in his foster home. There is also a video on a 'hiking day trip' from the shelter where he is getting used to being in the water and having a great time. TEDDY being around 5 years old still needs an active life where he can make up for lost time living in a kennel in a shelter. He would benefit from a family that has the time to give him the lifestyle that he needs and deserves. TEDDY is being fed Purina Pro Plan, but would be happy with any high quality diet and a variety of food is best. %BD%BD%BD'%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BDYou MUST understand that dogs need time to decompress and adapt to their new environment and home. It is a HUGE transition they make from the kill shelter, being vetted, on transport for 3 days and arriving in Maine where the temperature and such is very different to what they have only known. In rescue there is what is known as the '3 Point Rule' Days 1-3 your dog is stressed, anxious, confused as to where they are now. Weeks 1-3 your dog is adjusting, settling in, learning things. At the 3-month point, your dog understands they are home, and have built up a trusting relationship where they feel loved and secure. If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the ADOPTION INFO tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 1-2 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then we can schedule your appointment to come to the rescue in Sebec, Maine for meet/greet/adopt Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks. https://www.giveadogahome-rescue.org/forms/form?formid=5838 ALL Dogs are LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE .
