About Manu

Adoption Fee: $50
Pit Bull / Australian Cattle Dog
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

It is with a very sad and broken heart that we need to rehome my son's dog who is currently in Utah at my Moms! I am in charge of Manu and I live in Vegas and we can drive him somewhere! Manu's name is Samoan which means Beast! He was born Oct 1st, 2020, and is a Pitt/Blue-Healer/Mastiff mix, and very strong at about 70 lbs. He is neutered. He is an absolute lover of his adult humans although he is NOT kid-friendly. Super affectionate and cuddly and when he is rubbed, he tends to fall away from you while still wanting to be rubbed... :) With no official training, Manu is obedient to all basic commands like sit, down, roll over, paw, stay and he even barks when told to speak! He enjoys going on long walks/jogs, although he is a puller and needs to be trained better in that sense, and he must be leashed outside at all times or he will take off. He is very playful and loves to chase the tennis ball but must be inside the house or in a fenced yard or he will take off. He likes to attack moving wheels like skateboards, rollerblades, and bicycles. He absolutely loves going for rides in the car and has been on several cross-country trips! He is a scaredy-cat of loud noises, and also sudden noises and/or movements. Peanut butter is a favorite treat and he also loves chewing on plastic containers. Manu is my son's dog and he got him in Virginia as a puppy. The reason my son got him was that he had a very bad accident and was needing some emotional support. My son had him for 8 months and then due to an unfortunate incident with a child, I had to take Manu in. I had him for about 6 months and again, due to another unfortunate incident with a child, I had to take him temporarily to my mom's. He's been in her backyard on a leash and/or in a large kennel since October and it is breaking our hearts. Unfortunately, both my son and I continue to travel a lot for work and will not be living in a place in the near future where either of us can have Manu with us. Manu really needs to be with a good owner that will love the heck out of him because he will love them back unconditionally. Manu lived inside his first year of life and is crate trained. When he was with me I would leave him out of his kennel at first when I was gone and I would come home to an absolute mess! No biting of furniture though, just the trinkets. So that had to change and he would stay in his kennel when no one was home, sometimes up to 7 hours, fortunately with no accidents in his kennel. He is indoor potty trained and either sits by the door and whimpers or sits and stares at you and whimpers if he needs to go outside and go potty. Manu only went to a dog park a handful of times before he was neutered and was usually good with his tail always wagging. One time he instigated a fight and another time another dog instigated a fight. He also lived with his sister for his first 8 months and they played aggressively but well with each other. He has not been around cats. He did get off his leash somehow at my mom's and killed one of my sister's chickens. He is NOT kid-friendly, but maybe can be trained to be around kiddos, I have no clue. But he is very good around adult humans! He is a month behind on his shots but I will cover those expenses to get him updated, especially on his rabies shot. He will come with his large kennel, collar and leash, and a bag of tennis balls. His 'incidents' with children... The first incident was when my son had him at his Casida on my sister's property and Manu was about 7 months old. My son was getting him off his leash and putting him in his Casida right in the moment when my sister's young boys and their friends ran into the yard play screaming with each other, and although they were not near him, Manu chased towards them. Manu was picked up by animal control and when he was released I took him to my place because my son could not keep him on their property. The second incident happened after I had Manu for about 5 months and he was 1 year old at the time of this incident. I was taking him to the grass to go potty and the neighbor boy ran up to him from behind a car yelling about how cute my dog is and can he pet him. Manu had already been at full leash, because the boy was so far away when I was almost to the grass, that I couldn't pull him back and by the time I realized what was happening, in a matter of seconds, he was biting the boy. Animal control picked him up and he was again released back to us and we had to take him to my Mom's backyard because I almost got evicted over the incident. He's been on a chain and/or in an extra-large kennel/dog house in her backyard since October. As I understand more about his bites and the blue healer in him, he really is just herding and corralling and nipping the kids, not biting them to maul them! People are suggesting the best place for him would be in a farm type setting%BD'%BD|
