About Bruin

Boxer / Lab
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Meet Bruin, a year-and-a-half old, 55-pound mixed breed, with a best guess of yellow lab and boxer. He's a handsome boy with classic good looks who loves walking around his town of Medway, MA. Bruin is very smart and likes to be mentally stimulated. He does the Sunday New York Times crossword in pen. He knows tons of commands, from the basics like Sit, Down, and Stay to commands like Back-Up, Leave It, Come, and High Five. He walks really well on a leash and is well-mannered. Although sometimes he can be very excited to meet people and he forgets that he's not a puppy anymore. Bruin likes to ride in the car because it means that he's going on an adventure. He likes long off-leash walks in the woods, swimming in ponds, and rolling around in the mud. He can keep up with the best of them, but he also likes his downtime. He is not a hyper-energetic guy but is always up for anything. Bruin is a self-respecting dog who is happy to hang out in the house when he's alone and watch the world outside the window or catch up on his beauty sleep. He also enjoys sleeping in his playpen (also known as an X-Pen). He is crate trained but prefers his crates to have a skylight. Although Bruin lives with another dog right now, he would be okay as an only dog. He can be a bit bossy, but a self-assured female dog who could show him the ropes and teach him some manners might be fine. He goes for pack-walks off-leash and is fine with a small group. Bruin has lived a sheltered life (pandemic, anyone?) and hasn't had the opportunity to be introduced to a lot of things, so he's a bit underconfident. But, he's young and game to do anything his pack wants to do. Speaking of packs, his dream pack would be a pack of adults. Bruin is a bit confused by children. He thinks that they're littermates and that he should make sure they're always doing the right thing. It would probably be better for Buin if he had older siblings (like 20 or so) or no siblings. The facts: Dogs OK. Cats, no thanks. Human kids to live with, that's a pass. What would Bruin's ideal home be? Bruin likes to know what's scheduled for the day. He likes surprises only if they involve liver treats. He craves structure, consistency, and routine. He doesn't think that's boring, he thinks that he knows what he's supposed to be doing. Bruin can get easily overstimulated in busy environments, so a calmer household is best. Bruin loves to snuggle and hang out on the couch with his pack. He has an incredible sense of humor and there's always a twinkle in his eye. He loves to play, chase, and have fun. He's been known to be a bit of a drama queen (his dog walker once had to carry him out of the woods because he broke a nail.) He doesn't want to be in charge, but if he feels that there's no one in control he feels like he has to take over, so he is looking for someone who has an authoritative air, who will call his bluff and show him that they've got his back. He would like to live with a confident dog-savvy person who can guide him through life and help him learn to be self-assured. If you're looking to grow with a smart, happy boy that you can teach to share in your adventures, look no further than Bruin!
