About ANNIE special needs

ANNIE is sweet and playful. She is one of Angel's puppies (Golden retriever Angel saved her puppies from a dangerous ordeal). Annie has a personality like her mom, a Golden personality. She loves other friendly dogs and people :-) Annie got the worst of the ordeal and as a result her eye and jaw don't open. We are seeking advice from several veterinarians. So far the conclusion is that she may just need to stay like this. She is adorable, has no pain, and has adjusted well. Her special needs require her to have smaller bite-sized food. And since she can only see out of one eye, she may be startled when someone approaches from the other side :-) Her spaying, vaccines, deworming, and microchip are included in her adoption fee. She was born November 27, 2021 on one of the reservations we work with. How to proceed: EMAIL ONLY! Please do not call! Our phone line is set for outgoing calls only, you will not be able to leave a message. 1)Please email us [email protected] to see if the pup is still available. If the pet is still available we'll send you the link to the application within four days (usually happens on the same day/next day). If four days has passed and you haven't received a reply from us, the pet is not available so please don't attempt to bombard us with more emails. We are short-staffed since the pandemic, our apologies. 2) Once you've completed the application we've emailed you, we will respond within one week (usually within two days actually, but sometimes references don't reply right away to us which then delays us getting back to you to proceed). If you don't receive a reply from us in one week, the adoption team has probably received several applications and decided on another family. Please don't bombard us with emails after one week. We are short-staffed, our apologies. 3) After we've approved your written application, we will email you to send us the requested pics/videos. There will be a phone/zoom call where we can answer your questions and discuss a time for us to bring the dog to your home to meet your family members and current pets. The meetgreet/adoption must include all household members and pets. Please wear masks and keep socially distanced (as will we). Everything will take place outside. *FOR the MAJORITY of APPROVED APPLICANTS, YOUR newly adopted DOG WILL be LIVING with YOU WITHIN ONE WEEK of your application :-) Our adoptables are not coming from a kenneled public shelter, they are coming from Indian reservations and then once off the reservations, housed with foster families who care deeply and want to make sure the adopting families are making a sixteen year commitment to the dog and will periodically stay in touch with the rescue (yearly pictures, drop an email, etc). So instead of just adopting a dog, you've become part of the DesertPawsNM family of rescues. We've been doing this successfully for thirteen years and many families come back to adopt their second or third rez dog from us as well. WE LOOK FORWARD to MEETING YOU and YOUR PETS! :-)
