PLEASE READ TO THE END OF THE POST FOR ADOPTION INFORMATION. Mr. Personality is still on the lookout for his new home which should have another small playful dog, a fenced yard, no small children, and an active family will give him lots of love and attention! Oreo is sweet, happy, energetic, friendly and would love to be someone's new best friend! He is a beautiful Rat Terrier who turned a year old in February. He is 15 pounds of love, cuddles, and tail wags! Oreo came to us after his owner died and the family was unable to keep him. He is a super sweet guy who loves nothing more than to be with his person. He is the ideal companion dog who likes to go on car rides and walks, and is good to go everywhere with you. Oreo walks great on a leash and is a frequent visitor to the Palafox Market and Palafox Pier. When he's done walking he will stop and look up at you to be picked up. He rides great in the car, even when seat belted into the backseat. Oreo loves exploring the backyard with the other small dogs in his foster home but may be skittish the first few days. He does need a home with a secure fenced yard or one where he will always be kept on a leash when outside of a secured area because he can get excited and may go further than the boundaries of his yard without meaning too. He is mostly housebroken. He really wants to please you and he likes treats so a good routine and lots of praise should get him where he needs to be in your home. Oreo loves to snuggle in the big bed and burrow behind or next to you on the couch. If you are not paying what he feels is enough attention to him he will gently nudge you for pets and kisses. Oreo is very playful and enjoys having a toy to chew on. He always wants to play with the other small dogs in his foster home and as he gets more comfortable in a home, he gets more playful and active and he is high energy. He has not been cat or kid tested. We think he would be fine with older kids, and he definitely should have a home with a small playful dog to buddy up with. He does not like big dogs and he is not going to be a dog who will be happy spending long hours alone. He can experience some separation anxiety but that has gotten better the longer he has been in his foster home, and will be the same way in your home. His foster mom will be happy to talk to a new adopter and explain what she did to help him become more comfortable and secure. Oreo has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, neutered, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration.
