About Rose

Adoption Fee: $400
Great Dane / Lab
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

LOCATION: Granbury, Texas - AGE/DOB: 2 years, 03/05/2020 (estimate) - Rose or Rosey Posey as her foster mom lovingly calls her (Rosalita if she is misbehaving!) is a beautiful average to medium/high energy 2-year-old that still has some puppy in her personality! When she first arrived at her foster home, Rose stuck to her foster mom like glue, because she was concerned her foster mom was not coming back when she left the room. However, with time, she has started to become more comfortable and understanding of the fact that she'll never be left behind! She now spends time on her own investigating the great outdoors, napping on a dog bed out on the porch, or playing chase with her foster brother and sister. Rose also enjoys napping on the couch next to her foster mom and sleeping in the bed with her at night. It just so happens she is quite the pillow hog! And if a pillow is not available, Rose will use your shoulder or leg instead. She just likes to be close and cuddly. Rose warms up to women quicker than men, but if given time and space to adjust, she will do well. She has not been around children in her foster home, but her original owner had school aged children. However, it should be noted that she is oblivious to her size and is not a gentle treat taker - she can be quick and grabby. She has not exhibited resource guarding with her food though. She eats in her kennel and is fine to rest in it afterwards while her foster mom is home, but she is not yet comfortable being in the kennel when her foster mom is out of the house. Not only is she vocal about it, but also a Houdini, so Rose will need help learning to view a kennel/crate or other designated area of her future home as her safe haven whether her family is home or not. It takes time for Rose to feel safe around new people and new dogs entering 'her' home and she can display reactive behaviors towards other dogs. Her foster mom has found that it helps to kennel her prior to strangers arriving, so she can observe from a safe place and come out when she is relaxed. Despite struggling with new dogs entering her home, Rose does love her foster doggy siblings very much and always tries to entice them to play with her. The initial introduction will need to be taken slowly and likely on neutral ground, but Rose would likely benefit from a playmate and calm/confident dog she can learn from in her future home. While Rose has started to transform from a very skittish to a confident girl inside her foster home, she still does display some nervousness when out and about (i.e. trips to Lowes, Home Depot, etc.), but gains confidence quicker than she used to when she has a leader who she trusts to lean on. She rides well in the car and likes to hang her head out the window while driving through town! (Although, she will try to slip out of the car quickly when you open the door, so it would be smart to make sure she is secured in the vehicle.) In summary, Rose is truly a sweet gentle soul, but just needs time to adjust at her own pace. She will benefit from a family who is home often, will continue the basic obedience and leash training she is learning in her foster home, and an extra plus would be a family who will provide her with her favorite Nylabones, plushies, and play keep away with her! If you are a family who can be patient with Rose, help her work through some quirks, and don't mind losing all your pillows to this pillow queen, you won't be disappointed! ========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 =========================
