Roxy loves attention from the volunteers and will walk right up to us to say hi and give kisses. She loves being outdoors, playing and wrestling with her dog best friend, no matter the weather. She has played with several dogs at the rescue kennel she was at in Kentucky before her transport to us in MA and has gotten along well with dogs ranging from 50-65 lb., both male and female but does not like small dogs. Roxy has been on a few walks at the park with volunteers and walks well on a leash as long as the proper training tools are used. She has prey drive so when she sees a small animal she wants to chase and she is a strong girl! But with the proper training tools, this is easily managed. Roxy will need further training in order to safely walk by small animals and work on reactivity when seeing other animals. Lighthouse can assist Roxy's adopter in finding the right trainer to help her. We believe Roxy is house trained as we have left her loose in her own room and she didn't have accidents. She doesn't have accidents in her crate either. Roxy knows how to sit, give paw, and sit pretty! Roxy would like a confident, experienced dog owner with a fully fenced, secure yard so she can run and play to her heart's content without worrying about small animals in her space. When she first arrived she weighed 96 lb. Now she is 80 lb. and looking beautiful and healthy!! Her paperwork lists her as a lab mix and she is around 5 years old. She should not live with cats or other small animals. She could live with a dog similar in size to her.
