About Rookie

Rookie is a male Boxer/Lab mix with a big heart and a sweet loving disposition. This rescued stray adores people and is very friendly and affectionate. He's big on hugs and sloppy kisses! This handsome hunk weighs fifty-seven pounds and is estimated to be three years old. An active large pup, Rookie is the perfect companion for an adult or family with older children. He loves playing outdoor games like fetch and tug of war. He would make a great trail buddy once he fine tunes his leash skills. He has a foot fetish we are working to correct. Rookie thinks it is great fun to make you dance a jig as he nips at your shoes. Through positive reinforcement, we are teaching him how to properly walk on a leash. Other than that quirk, he's a great dog and fun to be around. Rookie keeps a clean kennel and appears to be housebroken. A fenced in backyard will give him a safe place to run and play. Rookie has had limited contact with the other pups at the shelter but has done well with other dogs that enjoy rough and tumble play.
