About Milo

Please read his entire bio (3 This handsome boy is Milo. He is a Standard Aussie and weighs 56 lbs. He is a very affectionate/velcro Aussie like many and he is good with his obedience a majority of the time. About 2 months into his new life with me while we were attending obedience classes, he started to display increasing reactivity. He ended up in puppy 'bootcamp' and on Prozac which helped and afterwards I kept him very busy and engaged. We used puzzle toys, walks, classes to reinforce his newly developed skills and even started some scent work where he became very reliable in detecting birch. His reactivity was dramatically improved! We were working on a loose leash when a young boy ran up behind me startling both of us which caused Milo to lunge from fear. The bite was just a graze. The boy and Milo are now good friends and has gotten past the incident. He is a very good dog and I love him dearly, but he still does not respond well to some men, most likely due to mistreatment in his past. This resulted in another nip but he did not puncture the skin but grazed it. He was just protecting his people. Milo came off the Prozac after a year with NO increase in reactivity and he has leveled and we had NO incidents for 3 YEARS! For all that I have worked with him, I live in a crowded area in MD and I do not have a fenced in yard which is not helpful to his needs. Milo needs a high energy owner who is involved in a lot of physical activity, preferably a female. I want him to be happy and I don't want him to go to a situation where he might regress due to stress. I think there is an owner out there who is more familiar with this breed and their nuances. He deserves a home in a more conducive setting. Milo is an amazing dog with so much love to give. His ideal home would be with a female owner who is very active and has a fenced in yard so he can run around and burn off his energy.
