Baltimore county shelter is in desperate search of adopter, foster, rescue or transfer of Jovie since she has been there for a few months ٪%81 Reach out to Megan with any ideas that might help sweet Jovie 'Like most shelters, Baltimore County Animal Services is overrun with Pit Bulls. Our kennel space has been consistently full this year. A few of our dogs have been here since last year and we'd like to find them adopters here or rescues elsewhere that may be able to find homes for them. If you cannot pull these dogs, but may be able to do a courtesy post it would be greatly appreciated! There's a $2,000 pledge for a rescue that pulls Jovie! Jovie has been with us since December 24th. At only 2 years old, Jovie's been pretty down on her luck. She came to us as a stray so her previous home history is unknown to us. What we can tell you is Jovie has been a big sweetheart here with all the people that she meets. Unfortunately, Jovie really doesn't like other dogs, even soft, neutral dogs. Although our behavior consultant re-evaluated Jovie today and said: We took her out for a re-dog to dog test. We had Jovie in the smaller yard 5 area on leash out of visual contact with any other dogs. Connor came into yard 4 walking Sunshine on leash. We wanted to assess Jovie's reaction to a dog popping up out of no where. It went more pleasant than expected. Erin tried to maintain slack on leash and dropped it as sunshine approached. Jovie approached very directly but her body was very bouncy as she approached. She had a bend in her knee as almost playful towards the other dog. She was not vocalizing excessively, a whine at best. Her body language maintained neutral, tail maintained at spine level she was not overly forward with her body. She also showed no height seeking behavior or jumping towards fence. Her jaw also seemed very soft throughout. Sunshine actually demonstrated some threatening bx in response to Jovie's exuberant approach; with some muzzle wrinkling and growling. Jovie actually had zero reaction to this and chose to disengage on her own. She came right over to us and offered a sit, immediate bounce back and was able to engage in a short training session. She even helped us make a good training video for the volunteers today. We didn't notice any threatening bc towards any of the animals today, possible leash frustration. During the end of our time together, we did some relaxation protocol with her. We practiced Matt stays with her and she was amazing. She really enjoys working on her mental stimulation. With how she responded extremely well to bmod and would benefit from some future sessions. Putting her back we came in close contact with another dog, Erin used the squeaker technique and she disengaged immediately and was a doll to put back into the kennel. On top of this, Jovie was also found to have a grade 2-3/4 luxating patella which may require surgery. Though she's currently available for regular adoption through us, if a rescue pulls her she has $2,000 in pledges to go with her towards surgery. If you would be interested in pulling Jovie, swapping her for other animals, housing her for a two week trial to get new people to see her, or have any questions please let me know!
