About Astin

Adoption Fee: $525
Australian Cattle Dog mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Astin is estimated to be a shepherd / cattle dog mix and is approximately 3 years old. He is a medium-to-large size dog, weighing around 50-55lbs. Astin was posted on Facebook as needing help on 11/18/21, but no one did anything to help him. He was posted again on 11/28/21, and I was tagged to his post. We set up our live trap, and he was in it within 5 minutes. The x-rays showed his left leg was out of the hip socket, so he needed an FHO, and his left leg was also broken, so his left leg also needed a plate put on the femur. He also has Glaucoma in his right eye, probably from the trauma when he was hit by a vehicle. His stitches came out on 12/16/21. He was neutered while he was sedated for surgery. He went back for a follow up x-ray on 12/29/21, and on 1/26/22, and Dr. is very pleased with his recovery. He will need eye drops for his right eye each day for the rest of his life, which will be around $30 something for each bottle. During his surgery, they discovered that his injuries had been there for a few months, so he had been in a lot of pain for a long time. His left leg is shorter now because the femur was fractured, so she will always have a limp on his back leg. Astin is a happy dog now, who loves attention from people, and is heartworm negative. He is good on a leash, is good around other dogs, and is crate trained, but we don't know if he is house trained. He loves to lay on dog beds. He was estimated to have been born around November 2019, and weighed 46 pounds on 11/28/21, and 52.8 pounds on 1/26/22. He appears to be some kind of Cattle Dog/Shepherd mix.
