PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION. 1. Older children only. 3-year-old female Chihuahua mix, about 17.5 pounds. Shellie lived on her own in an orchard for many months before she was trapped. Dumped with several other dogs and she was one of two to make it out alive. She was rightfully scared at first, but she has blossomed into a young, happy and very playful girl! She has a lot of energy, loves to run circles in the yard, play with squeaky toys and wrestle with her foster brother. She may play rough and loud but never aggressively, neither to dogs nor to humans. Shellie loves to awaken her humans with kisses and sleep tucked next to them in their bed. Shellie is new to living indoors, so she is not completely housebroken. It would be great for her to live with a dog of the same size and temperament for play sessions and squeaky toy battles. Smaller dogs may be too delicate for her energetic playstyle. Shellie is a goofy girl who is full of love and is truly enjoying the company of humans and the creature comforts of a home. She will still require a lot of training and patience to help her develop into the perfect house dog. Cats unknown and older children requested. Adoption contract and fee applies. All adoptable dogs can be met at adoption events hosted every weekend. For a list of scheduled events go to: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/events . Smidget Rescue is not a shelter, and dogs cannot be seen at the Rescue location. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters. Additional pictures of adoptable dogs can be seen at: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/photos_stream?tab=photos_albums. All adoptable dogs are spayed or neutered at 6 months of age or older. Puppies are adopted with a refundable spay/neuter deposit (in addition to the adoption fee) and adopters are required to get their puppy to our vet for their pre-scheduled spay-neuter appointments. APPLICATIONS CAN BE OBTAINED BY EMAIL ONLY. Adoption process includes application, meet & greet, home visit and reference check. Email Jamie at [email protected] or click on the CONTACT link on this page. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS BEFORE SENDING. We get a fair number of incorrect emails and Jamie is not able to contact potential adopters. Notice: We do not ship dogs out of state unless you are within a five-hour radius of Seattle, WA, (such as Portland, Vancouver B.C., etc.), so we can arrange for a home visit. If your home seems like a great fit for the dog you would like to adopt, you must then drive to meet the dog at one of our weekend events or at the fosters home.
