PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION. 1. She needs a fully fenced yard. 2. Kids 10 or older. Sheba came into rescue very pregnant. She did a great job raising her pups and is now available for adoption. Very much a puppy herself, she is active, playful and loving. She can get very attached to her person and seems to lean more towards female humans (although fine with men). She is submissive to humans but can act dominant with SOME dogs. In general, she is great with dogs and loves to play! She learns quickly and responds well to corrections. Her cattle dog traits are; her one human centric personality, her willingness to chase the chickens (high prey drive, although good with small dogs and cats), and her activity level. Although she sort of barks, her sound is very much the high pitched Shibu noises. Her vocal abilities (and her cattle dog nature) require her to be in a home with a fenced yard. She has learned to love to chase the ball, but does not always actually bring it back to you. She loves to be with her people and is very affectionate but her energy can be hard for her to control and she would be too much for small children. She will need continued leash and impulse control training and lots of exercise and play! She is the kind of dog that would love to go with you everywhere (like most cattle dogs) and explore the great outdoors. Adoption contract and fee applies. All adoptable dogs can be met at adoption events hosted every weekend. For a list of scheduled events go to: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/events . Smidget Rescue is not a shelter, and dogs cannot be seen at the Rescue location. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters. Additional pictures of adoptable dogs can be seen at: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/photos_stream?tab=photos_albums. All adoptable dogs are spayed or neutered at 6 months of age or older. Puppies are adopted with a refundable spay/neuter deposit (in addition to the adoption fee) and adopters are required to get their puppy to our vet for their pre-scheduled spay-neuter appointments. APPLICATIONS CAN BE OBTAINED BY EMAIL ONLY. Adoption process includes application, meet & greet, home visit and reference check. Email Jamie at [email protected] or click on the CONTACT link on this page. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS BEFORE SENDING. We get a fair number of incorrect emails and Jamie is not able to contact potential adopters. Notice: We do not ship dogs out of state. You must live within a three-hour radius of Seattle, WA, (such as Portland, Vancouver B.C., etc.), so we can arrange for a home visit. If your home seems like a great fit for the dog you would like to adopt, you must then drive to meet the dog at one of our weekend events or at the fosters home.
