About Minnie

To all prospective adopters out there, meet Minnie! Let this sugary sweet girl cast the same spell on you as she did on us! Minnie is a 3-year old, 50-pound female Australian Shepherd mix located near Framingham, MA. Your guidance and love will be duly rewarded with devotion, affection, and plenty of kisses. Few dogs will try as hard as Minnie to be good and brave, especially one with severe 'stranger danger.'' After two months of training, she now has the right prescription to meet visitors. Doctor recommended (The Boston Dogtor that is), this new dose of cues, treats, and encouragement has been game changing for her. However, since Minnie's fear runs deep, she will always need a gentle natured someone to make her feel safe and loved, and that someone must have the experience to continue her progress. Her person must have a low-key indoor lifestyle with few visitors, but on the flip side, Minnie needs someone whose happy place is the same as hers - The Great Outdoors! Minnie absolutely loves outdoor adventures (except the dog park!) Be sure to see all of her pics and videos! Great on leash, she loves neighborhood walks, hikes, and exploring all types of water sources (puddles, lakes, streams, and the ocean) where she'll wade, take a quick swim, or look for a special stick. On trails, she is an excellent listener and will come to you should other people and loose dogs be in the vicinity. She is more interested in exploring on her own than meeting others. In her new home, she will need this type of regular exercise and activity. Physical and mental stimulation makes for a tired and happy dog! After a walk or adventure, she's extremely content to curl up on the bed - hers or yours - or on a patch of sunlight. This star pupil catches on fast and is eager to please. She proudly responds to positive reinforcement such as 'yes' and 'good girl' or yummy treats. Continued and consistent training with a daily routine will further increase her confidence. The icing on the cake is that her trainer will help you and Minnie set up for success. We are searching for that very special match, the kind of person who is experienced with dogs like Minnie and wants to rescue a dog with limited options.
