About Bowie

Location: Boswell, Pennsylvania DOB: 4/22/21 This stunning boy was failed by humans but has come so very far and is ready for his forever home. His current foster family has spent a ton of time earning this boy's trust. And man has it been worth it! He has a history of guarding his food and water but has improved significantly with patience and dedicated training. His food reactivity is almost nonexistent, though he would do best fed separately. He no longer guards the water bowl (yay Bowie!). He IS good with other dogs but needs slow intros- a dog that is a bit more of an alpha is better for him. He will bark at one of his foster sisters - but he's all thunder and noise; big and scary thunder. He cedes to them without issue though. He is not an alpha dog and submits to alpha authority although he will try to be alpha over a more mild-mannered dog. Otherwise, he lives peacefully in his foster home with the rest of the pack. He has what is suspected to be an old back injury, so should be in a home where he is not with a lot of other dogs that like to play rough He has made huge leaps in trusting people. He no longer feels he has to react to people outside his home. He knows about the time the neighbors have their dog play date and will start looking for them, but he is easily redirected where previously he was hyper focused out the window and barking. He makes eye contact now all the time - like a normal pup- before he wouldn't stop being concerned about his surroundings long enough to even look at you. His foster family has had company in the past few days for the first time since he's been with them and he's been doing great (again, yay Bo!)! He does not destroy anything, and he is not crated. He does well on leash, until he sees another dog or person - though he isn't mean or aggressive - he He's very smart -he has learned sit, shake, look at me, lay down and come. He does not understand personal space, lol but not many Danes do, and he is the ultimate counter surfer! He's so dang nosy!! He is also a smart boy. He loves drinking out of the hose outside and has learned to stand on the nozzle to make it spray. He is a lovey lovey boy. A great leaner. And he's a super bed warmer. He's a bit spoiled and has to be plastered against you when he's in bed. He settles in with a giant moan and sigh like it's the best thing ever.
