About Popeye

Pit Bull mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Meet Popeye, a super sweet boy with an award-winning smile! This 4-year old, 55-pound pittie mix from Nutting Lake, MA is sure to brighten up each and every day! Popeye is a medium energy, super goofy and playful guy who loves to work for his treats with puzzles and games. He also loves his snuffle mat, peanut butter bones and stuffed kongs. Did we mention he is food motivated!?! Popeye is a great snuggler who also enjoys his crate and sleeps peacefully in it each night. He is also happy to nap on the couch while his humans earn the money to pay for his favorite toys and treats. He has some seriously goofy tricks up his sleeve but you'll have to be a bit patient to see that side of him. Popeye was found as a stray in Boston in 2020 and adopted soon after. He was happily in his new home for over a year when his dad became ill and needed help rehoming his new pal. Our friends at Bullied Breed Rescue took him under their angel wings. He is currently in a foster home where he is thriving. Popeye is enjoying lots of walks and hikes with his foster mom. He also loves romping with his foster fur-sister around the backyard. Popeye is crate trained, food motivated, and a super smart guy who loves butt scratches most of all. Since he gets unsettled by too many things going on, he cannot live in an apartment or city. He will do best in a quiet neighborhood and preferably a fenced backyard. Popeye can live with a playful and tolerant female dog, medium sized. No cats. Kids over 12. A person with previous dog experience is a requirement. Popeye will need his people to continue working with him on leash training as he does well until he sees another dog. He is working with his current foster to have a calmer approach while walking. Popeye is not reactive at the vet and in the pet store, so there's hope for much improvement in other settings! Popeye might not be a sailor but he sure is a catch! To adopt him, copy and use the link below in your browser, look for Popeye, and then click the Application button!
