About Ranger

Adoption Fee: $50
Black Mouth Cur / Mountain Cur
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

We really need to find him a new home ASAP as he and his littermate brother have reached their threshold for being around each other. Ranger is 5 years old, neutered, up to date on vaccines, around 70 lbs, very well house trained, goofy, protective, loves treats and playing fetch with his human, and seriously needs a new home ASAP since he and his littermate brother think they're UFC rivals and can no longer live in the same house as each other anymore. When Ranger's not chasing after a rope or a rogue squirrel, he loves laying around the house chilling with his people and watching Netflix, or begging for treats. This goofball is extremely well house trained with zero indoor accidents, no issues like chewing or tearing things up, no counter surfing either. While he's an indoor dog mostly, he does great in a fenced in yard as he doesn't jump fences or dig. He probably wouldn't even attempt to push your gate open if it was cracked a little either. Ranger's extremely loyal and does not like getting into trouble (except where his brother's concerned obviously-hence the need to rehome him), and he takes his job of protecting his human(s) seriously. At times, Ranger gets scared of storms, loud noises, and he gets anxious sometimes around new people. But if you're comfortable and knowledgeable when it comes to dogs, and can handle that initial get-to-know you anxiety that he gets when he first meets someone, you'll quickly become his next best friend. With that said, Ranger would likely do best with someone who has no other dogs-OR who's familiar with dogs and has the ability to train and slowly integrate Ranger into the pack vs. expecting him to cohesively join the pack immediately-he's never been around cats before so I don't know how he'd be about that-nor little children since he's never been around small kids, only middle schoolers and up. While Ranger is not leash trained, he respects boundaries and would do great with a fenced in backyard. At this point we desperately need to rehome Ranger, as every day we're doing our best to diffuse the escalating tension between both he and his littermate. They no longer have a threshold for being around each other and Ranger's stressed, we're beyond stressed, and we're terrified of another fight between him and his brother happening again. We have contacted all rescues within 100 miles of us and continually hear that they're full.
