He came to Fuzzy Pawz Rescue from Louisiana, where he was apparently surrendered because the owner had no time for him. Sparky is only 2-years-old, and is very active. He needs a home with people who will keep him busy. After all, he's not much past puppyhood. But he is, thankfully, past the chewing stage! This little dog is house trained, but not trained to do much else. He doesn't recognize his name so doesn't respond to any direction. He will go to the door when he wants outside, and will paw at the door when he wants back in. This is unusual! Most surrenders have some skills, but seldom house training! Sparks is not dog door trained. Sparky is a lover, wanting to sit next to you, or in your lap. He is also kind of a pest. He is rubbing on your feet, or trying to sit in your lap, or trying to sleep next to you and lick your face. He needs attention. But when he is told to move off, rather adamantly sometimes, he will lay down to sleep for awhile on a blanket or in a dog bed. Sparks wakes up roaring to go at 6:30 a.m. Because of this, he has been sleeping in his crate. He would love to sleep in bed with you, but you'd best be ready for an early morning call. But he is amenable to his crate, and it keeps him out of trouble. This little dog is kind of special. He jacks his jaw around like he is trying to pop his ears while blinking his eyes quickly. He walks funny on his bow legs. The vets can't find anything wrong, so might be just weird chihuahua behavior, or perhaps some kind of neurological damage we can't identify. Doesn't slow him down. He is a hoot. Sparky is good with other dogs once he gets used to them. But will bark and growl in the beginning. We haven't cat tested him, so don't know about that. He probably shouldn't be around small children, as he is kind of growly in a new situation, and he is so small he could easily be hurt. Sparks is a doll who needs home with people who will keep him busy and accept his idiosyncrasies, who will work with him to develop his potential, and who will keep him warm! He shivers a lot here in our Idaho winter. Sparky is fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, has had a negative heart worm test, and was successfully vetted for fleas, important when you fly in from the south east U.S.
